Passion for life: representation of youth in contemporary artAperitif conferences
- Conference
Concurrent with the Teen Spirit exhibition, which tackles adolescence from a sociological viewpoint, the conference attempts to sketch a broader picture of the representation of youth. Contemporary photography is centre stage as it has made adolescents its fetish subject, bearing witness to the importance accorded to youth in society. This transition between childhood and adulthood, these rapidly changing bodies, have fascinated and questioned many artists, notably Larry Clark, Rineke Dijkstra, Ed van der Elsken, Charlotte Beaudry, Vasselina Nikolaeva, Joan Albert, and Lara Gasparotto.
By Nancy Casielles, curator at BPS22.
