From 1 June to 1 September 2024, the BPS22 invites you to discover Belgian artists, with exhibitions dedicated to Alain Bornain and Éric Fourez. Completing these two offers, a new chapter on Mail Art showcases the correspondence of Jef Lambrecht. See this new cycle in a preview showing at the opening on 31 May, from 7:00 p.m.
A self-taught artist obsessed with the idea of memory and obliteration, Alain Bornain (Genappe, 1965) will be taking over the Salle Pierre Dupont with several series of new paintings, punctuated by a few older works. amourable charts a new direction in Alain Bornain’s work and pays tribute to the works he has produced over the past 25 years, against a backdrop of the ambiguities of image and the fragility of memory.
In parallel, the museum is launching a
new series of exhibitions based on the ‘carte blanche’
principle, for which it has invited art critic and curator
Claude Lorent (Charleroi, 1943) to curate its first.
Claude Lorent has chosen to showcase, in the Grande
Halle, the work of artist Éric Fourez (Tournai, 1946),
whose artistic journey takes visitors On the traces of the
North Sea...
Finally, part #8 of the Mail art series will present the
epistolary production of Dutch journalist Jef Lambrecht
(Avelgem, 1948 - Antwerp, 2016), in a special project
devised by artist Chris Straetling.
