Memories: modern art and memoryConference aperitif
- Conference
Childhood memories, historical facts, the remains of an event, preservation of a past that has disappeared... All throughout 20th century art, through different media, many artists have provoked questions relating to time, temporality, and the organisation of what is visible. The works of Christian Boltanski, Walker Evans, Sophie Ristelhueber, Anselm Kiefer, or Latifa Echahkch (whose exhibition will be on display at the time in the BPS22), keep the memories of the past while recreating them. They thus enable us to question the relationships that we create between memory, history, and reality. Perhaps they will also allow us to become aware of the power of art in suggesting to us a form of truth?
With Dorothée Duvivier, curator at BPS22.
