Art and its marginsConference aperitif

Raw art, outsider art, marginal art, art of the mentally ill, peculiar art: what do all of these ideas share? The conference will attempt to answer this question starting with Jean Dubuffet, a raw art theorist. How should we designate marginal or self-taught artists, who have developed their work outside of the artistic community? Is it necessary to put them all under the one name? Are they full-blown artists despite their lack of legitimacy in the traditional field of art?
