The act of feeding oneself is undoubtedly one of the most commonly shared ones. It is nonetheless not straightforward and poses multiple problems (be they hygienic, cultural or political). For a long time, artistic performance has reinvested this daily gesture. Artists invent new ways of eating, manipulate food, alter their customs, taste, throw, chop up, vomit, etc. What fresh perspective do they give us of this act?
